OH HELLO VDAY

It's that sickly time of the year again - Valentines Day. Time for girlfriends to get huffed up on unrealistic expectation on this big romantic holiday ahead. Anyyywayys lets bring it back to square one, the small stuff that most people over look now days. The homemade gifts, they may not have spent a lot of money on it but they've put their whole heart into it. Looking back on the few years I've had with my beanfriend one of the most memorable valentines day gift was a home made card, hidden inside were coupons called 'Love Bucks' he said I could redeem them when I need extra affection.

He's not normally a crafty type of boy so this meant so much to me. I can't bring myself to use them hahas. So they inspired me to make these love bucks that you berries can print out (onto card stock paper if you want to be fancy ;) and all that). Along with these Valegram tickets which is just like a sweet way to have a romantic night at home with your loved one. Who said you need an expensive candle lit dinner to have a romantic night. I know I'll always cherish that card and the thought behind it.

So that's my take on it. Hope you guys have a good week and a great day. Print your own Valegram Tickets and Love bucks out (I have yet to learn a less ghetto way of doing this) just click on the picture below save it and print it.

Hope you have a sweet sweet day with your loved one(s) this holidays whether it's with a friend, your partner or family.

Set your goals for 2014

HAPPY NEW YEAR & HAPPY LUNAR NEW YEAR
Here's to my first post for this year. Some printable for you lovely souls.

This year i want to achieve more and i figured the first step is to set yourself up for success thus i wrote up my goals for this year. Also each year i also want to learn a new skill, this year is to learn how to crochet. Some of the things people can crochet for themselves are amazing and i'd love to learn that skill. I started learning about 4 days ago and i think i'm progressing... very very slowly.

But as Jake the Dog said:

"Suckin' at something is the first step to being sorta good at something

Here are my goals for this year and you can write out yours too. Print one of these bad boys out, fill it out and stick it up on your wall to keep you on track. I think it will be fun doing one each year and seeing how your goals will change.

The first thing i'm learning to crochet is a "simple" flower, i'm learnt it from a youtube video. I feel like i'm getting better. Left side is the very very first thing i ever crocheted and then the middle is my second attempt and third is my final attempt. Not perfect but you can kind of see that it's a flower in the third one. hahas.

Talk soon. BYEE!

DIY: Worry Dolls

"According to the Mayan legend, when worrying keeps a person awake, he or she tells a worry to as many dolls as necessary. Then the worrier places the dolls under his or her pillow. The dolls take over the worrying for the person who then sleeps peacefully through the night."

Here's a little gift i made for one of my close friends for her birthday. These worry dolls are an inexpensive but adorable DIY gift for a friend or family member that's a bit of a stress head.

These dolls are super tiny, about 3cm tall. Here's how you make them (kinda self explanatory but i'll continue typing anyways)

Worry Dolls Tutorial !

1. Cut out doll shape onto sturdy cardboard (my cardboard is about 1mm thick) Also remember they don't need to be uniform or neat, it feels more authentic when it looks more homemade.

2. Paint little dolls with craft paint or nail polish, add little faces, cute expressions to your little dolls

3. Start to wrap thread in criss cross fashion around the arms of the dolls like seen above, and then bring it down to make a little shirt or shorts (it's suppose to mimic tradition Mayan costume that they are typically dressed in). I secured my thread start and ends with adhering it to the doll with clear nail polish, but if you have craft glue laying about that would work too)

4. Optional - To personalise it for the person you're giving it too, I cut out their first initial out of felt and a circle and hand sewn it onto a jewellery bag i had. So the dolls had a nice little home to stay in.

That's about it guys, if you try them out Instagram them to me at #mbworrydolls, would LOVE to see them.

Pocketful Of Dreams

Here's an inexpensive but sentimental DIY gift whether it's for a close friend or for yourself to keep your goals/dreams and what's truly important in your life at bay.

This particular pocket was made for my beefriend, since his life was rapidly changing i wanted it to remind him of the little things, that he is loved, of his long terms goals and dreams, that he have a wonderful, supporting family and of course i had to add a little sunshine (Pocketful of sunshine, haha) to brighten up his day. But you can make anything that may be symbolic in their life or your own.
Hope you enjoyed this simple DIY gift idea.
